To the Reader:

The idea, which is based on the creation of this book is old and has several producers. It all started with the fact that Friends of Marie-Louise von Franz and Jung's psychology repeatedly considered the possibility, an anthology of the work of milt, which otherwise they could imagine only in limited circles of friends to publish. The pressure of this volume should be the creative interests of the author and the prima materia of his choice to remain as faithful as possible. It is a happy coincidence that we in Victor Hern Orenga found a sympathetic publisher who supported the individual authors with his confidence. This not least by verzichtete.Es to any censorship by a lector is a coincidence that this book in the 75th Anniversary of Marie-Louise von Franz is told. Wir sind sehr glücklich und freuen uns sehr, es ihr als Geschenk überreichen zu dürfen.

Dear Reader:

The concept of this publication was conceived long ago. It originated from several sources within a circle of friends of Marie-Louise von Franz and of the Psycholoy of C. G. Jung. We repeatedly pondered the possibility of publishing an anthology of essays which we had only presented to each other. It was wished that the printing of the articles in this edition would remain as true as possible to the creative urges of each author and of the prima materia chosen by him or her. We have had the great fortune of finding Mr. Víctor Orenga as a publisher who supported every one of us by his trust, not the least by dispensing with any censorship on the part of his editor. It is also a fortuitous coincidence, that this book is born in the year of MarieLouise von Franz's 75th. birthday. We are very happy to present it to her as a gesture of our profound gratitude.

Dear Reader:

The idea of this publication was conceived some time. It originated from several sources within a circle of friends of Marie-Louise von Franz and the Psychology of CG Jung. We value the opportunity to publish an anthology of essays which until then had been made between us. It was a desire that the printing of the articles in this issue remain as faithful as possible to the creative impulses each author and raw material chosen for him or her. We had the great fortune to meet Mr. Victor Orenga as an editor who supported us each of us for your trust, including exempting any kind of censorship on their part. It is also a fortuitous coincidence that this book is born in the year that Marie-Louise von Franz celebrates its 75 anniversary. We are very pleased to poderselo present it as a gesture of our deep gratitude.

CG JUNG'S REHABILITATION OF THE FEELING FUNCTION IN OUR CIVILIZATION

At 21-to 23-year-old medical student, Jung held four lectures to his fellow students in the fraternity-Zofingia in Basel. In one of them, in 1897, he cited the following passage from Kant's psychology: "The main thing is always the morality, this is the sacred and inviolable and must protect what we do, and this is the reason and purpose of all our speculations and investigations. All metaphysical speculations go beyond it. God and the "other world" is the only aim of all our philosophical investigation, and if the ideas of God and of the "other world" was not connected with morality, they would not "profitable.

Then - after a sharp attack on the materialism of his hand, in general - continues Jung: "You must, first and foremost as a" revolution from above "of science and morality impose on their representatives by certain transcendent truths [...] One has eg in the physiological institutions where you deliberately weakens the moral discernment of students through shameful, barbaric experiments by cruel, all humanity mocking talking animal cruelty in such institutions shall I say, you have to teach that any truth which will explored in immoral way, a moral right to exist to come. " (Emphasis mine). Then

Jung returns back to Kant and underscores the idea that only guarantee the belief in realities that are beyond the gross material world, a moral attitude of the people can. What I want to emphasize by these items is: Jung was in itself an introverted thinking type, but even in this youth talk is his feeling expressed. He was never a cold intellectual. Since this talk 84 years have passed, and where we stand today with respect to this problem?

The cruel torture of animals has not only in scientific laboratories but also recently vertausendfältigt in agriculture and spread consistently to the torture of countless People around the world. Military experts expect today in cold blood, as might be destroyed in a nuclear war, millions of people. Granted - it's their job, but you do not notice anymore that they are shocked and depressed when they face Sun But these facts are known, so I turn first to the Middle prefer lying, namely our own field: psychology. At universities, there is the trump statistics, only "hard", ie, statistical statements to be taken seriously. Jung, however, has long least a finger on the sore point out: The statistics describe only an intellectual - abstract image of the investigated object, not its reality, if we determine, for example, that in a pile of stones that weigh on average 1 / 2 kg, we will find in fact not a single stone of almost exactly the weight! We construct an abstract model of reality and then mix it with the current reality that is seen but specifically from nothing but exceptions. All mathematically based sciences go this route, and because Jung did not cooperate, they accused him of being "unscientific"-perhaps this is even true, but Jung is more realistic. In therapy, raised young on the distance in the white coat of the doctor who treated the patient as an impersonal object he encountered any patient with his personal feelings, whether positive or negative, and made then each analytic session of a personal encounter. Young students smuggle we1che again as the required technical procedures discussing the transfer, are simply regresses back into a vorjüngsche thinking. This is especially the so-called problem of the transfer, that is just the emotional relationship, but which is treated as a manipulable variable.

In a letter Jung explicitly: "The resolution of the transference is often simply that one ceases to describe his relationship as a transfer. This word devalues the relationship with the mere projection, it is not. Transmission is the illusion of their uniqueness when they are the collective and conventional position provides. "Uniqueness" lies solely between individuated only people they have no other relations as an individual, that is unique "(l). Therefore - we must conclude - if the word transmission is used only where it seeks to intentionally devalue any illusionary projections, but not for the emotional relationship that builds up slowly over the course of treatment.

course is a false kindness and friendliness of all income, as shown by some analysts to their patients, just as wrong - it follows the old role of general practitioners and serves as camouflage to not express the true feelings of its own to have, feelings that are often not all-loving, ie to avoid frictions and confrontations. This Persona-friendliness is a derivative of Christian sentiment, which I shall return later.

But first, back to the problem of science: our modern scientific and technological world and their way of life is made up mainly of scientists, whose main function is extraverted or introverted thinking, coupled with extra - or introverted sensation. In physics, for example, draw the introvert like Einstein, Bohr, Pauli, etc. from the theoretical physics, the extraverts such as Wernher von Braun, the experimental physics. The intuition function is not completely locked out, because you need speculative ideas to find new models of thought. But the feeling is nowhere, mostly in childish, well-meaning phrases uttered, all of which "should" contain the word. And with the exception of Niels Bohr, physicist have all the contracts referred to in the production of the atomic bomb worked, or want to work! Today, with the physicists in the U.S., a trend of Hindu philosophy which, although anti-materialistic, but the life of the individual 'considered for anything.

inhuman As has become the modern medicine, needs no comments. The newspapers are full of it, but does occur almost nothing. One can therefore not assess the lonely pioneering work of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross is high enough to dare a step in the right direction.

Another area where our sense failed miserably, the so-called development aid. The doctor Benno Glauser has also an excellent article in the journal of Switzerland. Red Cross (2) age. It reveals how we are trying to "help" people from other cultures by them but also try to impose our religious or scientific views, and thus destroy their own spiritual and religious survival. Our doctors, missionaries, planners and agricultural consultants will all of the condition of that we "know" what is right or wrong for others, and they are then disappointed and angry respectively, if these people refuse to help with our apathy, resistance and so-called ingratitude. I would like to quote from Glauser article, which is a Pai Indians in Paraguay said one medicine's assistant (3): "For us, Pai health is a state that" we call tekoresai ", so is that of" a state of being healthy "ensures need different things and situations are given, they all belong to the "state of being healthy" and make him the Pf1anzen and trees, taken individually as a remedy, but also all the plants and Trees together, true and balanced words spoken, good food, non-over-the-heads-of-other-across-action, and the jungle, the harmony, the community, talking with others, and talks, and maintenance of our "way of his ", and our own cultural life unfl nature, the feeling of strength that we through all the things I have mentioned, is given, the holding together of our community, quiet and live in security in our country, living together in the family and in the community and the parties. - Then comes your whites and makes us dependent on money and other material things: it destroys our "state of being healthy." Your leads to gossip, talk badly about others, you take our land away, to say no country no food, no food means disease. And in the end you attack in your pocket, pulls out a small white pill and want us to believe that the fact that we eat this pill, health lie that this pill is health ... "

All our destructive actions based how Glauser stresses on a fundamental lack of respect for other people and his sense of different cultural values - in other words, a lack of genuine feeling differentiated. We really know exactly at this disastrous effects of our behavior and the growing hatred of other Nations against the white race, but we do not seem to be able to do something about it.

One need not go so far to remote peoples to go to the same callous attitude prevails also with us to design from one group to another in front of our urban and regional planners as to their drawing board city and road plans to destroy that after the happiness of countless people . They think in cold blood, that if a dispossessed farmer receives a Adaequate monetary compensation or replacement land, there was no need requirements. The fact that the peasant but maybe loves his special piece of land does not count. Or we get old people out of their slum dwellings, where they Keep cats and birds feeding surprised us and then when they die promptly in their new so-called better, more hygienic environment, where do not like cats and bird dirt.

But what shall we do then? Our policy and change our legislation more extensively? For the latter apparently treated these problems? Erich Neumann wanted to set up in a militant way, in his book Depth Psychology and New Ethics "new moral boards, his book has made an impression, but in the land yielded no results. This is probably not the way to deal with the problem. I think the 22-year-old Jung has put his finger on the main point, namely, that first the "reality the soul, "must recognize that the unconscious and thus the reality of God's image or the self, and a trans-physical reality before we tackle anything else. Let me give an example: I was not long ago in Germany held a lecture on dreams of dying, which seem to point to a possible life after death. After the lecture, a nurse came in tears to me and said: "What did you say, can not and must not be true, because otherwise I would have to admit me as terrible things you did not say what ...!», but she has apparently dying patients ill-treated - perhaps stolen - in the belief that they no longer are aware there, so that their actions had no consequences anymore. But of course if her soul was still there and around? That would be a different matter. It is no coincidence that Dr. Kubler-Ross now, I am told to submit to spiritualism begins. It is the logical continuation of their work with dying, if you do not like us is convinced of the reality of the unconscious. Her feeling she leads logically to this step.

existed in all religions of all times and there is the idea of a god or gods and of an "other world" of non-material life, and only that alone can form the foundation of real ethics. "Deviation from Numen", so writes Jung, "Seems to apply everywhere and always as the worst and most original evil." (4)

Conversely, the essence of ethics on the phenomenon of conscience is founded on a feeling that the relationship between "individual and the transcendent" (5) or the archetype of the self.

What we are seeing in the other hand, the gross material world is all unjust suffering and the triumph of injustice. By the decency, you are a naive fool if you use them. The innocent suffering of the early Christian martyrs exercised at least an effect on the mass and so many converted to Christianity. But who remembers today the name of the young German school teacher who went voluntarily with his Jewish shui children into the gas chamber to console her? What does the suffering of the brave dissidents and Christians in Russia? Nothing! We read about it in the newspapers and put it with a resigned shrug aside.

Dr. Liliane Frey has published the dream of a dying patient, whose life was a series of external failures was. He dreamed: (6) "A voice ... said to me: "Your work and the suffering you have endured conscious, have saved hundreds of generations before you and will act in a hundred generations enlightening for You»

. Again, the existence of a world beyond is crucial. In a material world just is no solace to this man

But why should this have to do specifically to do with the feeling function? 1st recognition of a psychological reality is not important for all four functions of consciousness? Obviously, the value of ethics "in the main a product of the highly differentiated feeling function" (7), as Jung writes, it also requires a certain intelligence, which I shall return later. But in any case can not exist without ethics differentiated feelings, otherwise it becomes a rigid code of conduct, ie, a purely collective must. Anyone can do this, if for example a simple Polizeiverorduung is used schematically, and across the Great, we see how the state apparatus works in Russia.

But could someone argue, then where are the emotional type, which finally should be present in large numbers in any population? Why do they compensate for this contingency is not? We need to make a distinction between the existence of the collective feeling types and style of the time and the collective attitude of a culture. Of course we have many types of sensing with differentiated feeling among us, but the fashion of the time spirit of collective behavior, and valuing, recognizing the feeling not. This weakens the influence of emotion even when feeling types. In addition, the inferior function is a sensing type, as we know, thinking. This is therefore often follow the low-quality contemporary trends, in our time: the cheap materialism and intellectualism. Thus, we see example in some Latin cultures, a preference for the Communist ideology in its most stupid form, while the people themselves are rather less callous and not subjected to as many non-Latin peoples. I am thinking of Spain, Italy and some South American countries. What is all that bad, is that the official Zeitgeist today devalues the feeling. We hear often as the sentence (eg against the opponents of nuclear power) that they "just feel arguments instead of rational reasons cited for their cause," and that the mil secondary meaning, a sense that argument is nonsense eo ipso. Similar is evident among the youth unrest. Well-meaning authorities are trying again and again, with the rebellious youth "reasonable" (in quotes) to negotiate, without success, because these young people are moved by very vague, mostly negative feelings they may not translate into a thought or sensation language. Although some governments to beat before a very generous program for unemployed youth to enable them to further education. This is certainly good and right, but will it help enough? If an unemployed young rebel to rebel cease when he learns a bit more electronics? We know that the Soviets paid the rebels in part, but it is enough then that we lay down money? I do not think we will align as much if we keep ourselves on the level of the rational materialist thinking, not that the latter would be wrong as a whole, it is only wrong if we think it is the whole. Jung writes in a letter, (8) that we have become "one-sided intellectually and rationally" and have "forgotten that there are other factors, which are distinguished by the straight lines of reason and reason can not make influence. Therefore we see everywhere a flare of a mystical emotion, we1che one since the Middle Ages had declared missing. " This is a compensation of the technical progress made too quickly.

We need more than just understanding and reason, because the latter, young people make even more angry and we should give them a creative new total view of existence and may indeed offer a spiritual non-materialistic view as a whole, I believe we should connect with can make the unconscious as a psychic reality to which we not only with the mind, but also relate with the feeling and emotion must. How does it relate to the many forms of Eastern mysticism, which come to us now so fashionable? They too will turn into something intellectual easily, they turn primarily to the thinking and intuition, or as forms of yoga to the sensation. These teachings are in fact, as Jung points out, properly theological systems that respect the individual and his individual relationship to the divine little if at all. "Due to much Eastern knowledge," he writes, (9) "is ... replaced direct experience and thus obstructed access to psychology. However, it is understandable that people always try all possible paths, first, before they may decide to make their way into the untrodden. "

And in a letter to Miguel Serrano (l0), he continues: "They are two good representatives of East and West chose. Krishnamurti is completely irrational and let the solutions to the quietness, that is, whether, as belonging to mother nature to happen by itself. Toynbee its part believes that opinions can be formed and shaped. Neither the one nor the other believes in the flowering and - deployment of the individual as an experiment and to a dubious and perplexing work of God. Him we must lend our eyes and ears and our discerning mind ... "(because God We will get to consciousness). "We are in urgent need of a truth or a self-understanding, similar to that of ancient Egypt, as I found it at the Taos Pueblos still alive. The leader of their cult, the old Ochwiah Biano (mountain lake) told me. "We are the VoIk who lives on the roof of the world, we are the sons of the sun, which is our father every day we help him to be working ... We do this not only for ourselves but also for the Americans ... if they continue with it and stop us, they will see that not everything in 10 years the sun rises ". He rightly assumes that her dying day, their light, their awareness and sense when the narrowness of the American Rationalism destroys them. And the world will happen when it is delivered to the same rationalism. "

Elsewhere (11) stressed young that if we are the teachings of the East übrnehmen uncritically, we are obviously opinions more important than life in his own interior, so the hope and the liberating ecstasy of inner primal experience solidify soon to a predominantly intellectual effort, so We then take an original experience as a method have driven imitation.

suppress some Eastern methods even the unconscious, instead of establishing a relationship with him. (12) All of this will suffice to show that in Jung's view there is no true can be ethics without a living original experience of the divine. It is available by attaching to any theological or other education. Original experience can only be experienced by individuals, which I did not know, to me is the really real, it can exist in my head as an idea or opinion, but it is not experience. It matters a lot if I knew only from books and white elephants, that they exist, or if I've touched a saw, smelled,. Only this is a real experience, when I myself do with all functions, including the feeling of experiencing.

But what then of the Christian charity, it is not the end, what we look for and return to where we should? Certainly, Christianity was largely an emotional experience at the beginning. The first Christians were mostly slaves and uneducated people, and their brother or sister love each other created a fruitful bond between them. Vie1e early Christians even boasted of not being intellectual. But soon gained theological doctrinaire, dogmatic quarrels and other creditors follow the upper hand, and the all-embracing charity was concentrated by the principle of power, that enemy of all forms of love.

The Marxist slogan of the international solidarity is in some ways a return to early Christian ideal of love, However, without notice, based on the transcendent, only on the material side of existence.

In our time all the nations of the earth have become each other technically, economically and spiritually-oriented, and we therefore require more of a general sense of community. This is actually a strong point in the kornmunistischen propaganda. (13) Since the Sovietsystem many of his supporters disappointed in this regard has to turn many a Euro-communism and other needs. Che Guevara in South America is often literally as a hero of love celebrated, especially by women. Despite all the disappointments turn, many religious leaders of all denominations to Marxism because they feel that he is close to the early Christian ideal of brotherly love. But wherever communism has come to power, he has had the opposite results. Jung writes: (14) "The collective system, called political party or state: have a destructive effect on human relationships. They can also be easily destroyed, because the individual is still in a state of unconsciousness is, is the tremendous growth we1cher and the merger of the masses, not grown. As we know, is aimed at all the major effort to totälitaren States, personal relationships by fear and mistrust to undermine, the s produced an atomized mass in which the human Vollkornmen soul is stifled. Even the relationship between parents and children we1che of the closest and most natural, is torn by the State [...] The only way to stop this is to develop awareness of the individual. Thus it is immune to the lure of the collective organizations. Only thus will receive his soul, because their life is based on the human relationship. (15) The emphasis must be on the Incarnation are conscious and "is not on the state organization. And elsewhere: (16) "The unity and coexistence of mankind is one of the most important existential questions. But it is complicated by the fact that the individual must be self-present, which is possible only if the Community has only a relative value. Otherwise they are flooded and destroyed even the individual, and then there is not even her. In other words, a true community can only be formed by independent individuals who can be only up to a certain extent, community manager. Only they can meet the set in each of God's will ... "(genuine community needs" psychological understanding and empathy for different points of view ").

Many, mostly left-wing teenagers nowadays are experimenting with living in a community by trying using the merit of a new form of community relationship. But to conclude from what I have learned, such communities are breaking apart again due to internal disputes. The enthusiastic feeling of a loving accepting the other containing not when it comes to everyday life continues, because it's sentimental, a caricature, idealistic. Explosive blast consequently affects the community. Affects and emotions are but the signs of an undifferentiated feeling. I approached some young people who lived in communities, and it was all like other people, and in terms of their emotional relationships, but it led mostly to the fact that they left their original community and created instead a circle of personal friends . Now make many a cult of affects and emotions in a positive form of musical "happenings" or negatively by the Kravalle. The Kravallanten often think that they express feelings, but this is not entirely true, because feelings are coupled only in a primitive state with emotion, feeling is not differentiated, however emotionally. (17) Maintain awareness emotions and affects pathological and ultimately leads to self destruction. What is wrong but not with the Christian charity and its secular-materialist sequels in socialism and communism? Its positive aspect is a certain amount of general human compassion that connects us with all people, but their negative Emotional aspect is childish sentimentality, the latter simply the flip side of brutality. (19) While our old ladies knitting wool pants for the naked little Niggers, destroyed the life of slave handlers of the same denominations of thousands of black people. This is just an example of that sentiment and Brutaität are two sides of a case. We can not return to such a childish Christian charity, but we must return to her as a general love of humanity to a higher level. How would that look like? Jung calls it a new form of Eros (Love), a wholly-making, healing Effect and the aura of a individuated personality. (20)

This Eros is incidentally a female principle. (21) This form of love was symbolized in the alchemical tradition, by a strange image, through rose-colored blood, which heals the Sorcerer's Stone, or "homo putissimus" sweat out and all people. Homo putissimus means the purest and most genuine (non-alloy) Man, in contrast to Christ, the homo purissimus, the purest man. (22) He is a man who knows everything human and no foreign influence or admixture distorted. He would, it says, free the world from evil at the end of time through his rose-colored blood. This symbolizes a certain Eros, the many individuals, and agrees and makes all the sense of failure and to compensate for our time, a form of love that is greater self-knowledge and insight mil connected. The former Christian love was too blind and lack of insight, can be explained by it, even the Inquisition. "The blind is love," said Jung, (23) "the more instinctive it is, and threatened with destructive consequences, because it is a Dynamis, which requires the form and direction." For their proper use is required, therefore, a heightened awareness and a higher position, for an unconscious person is fooled by its projections and can not really question the other love and see how he is. Too large of emotion unconsciousness also produces an excessive and often first to intimacy, a judgment-free self-unite, which is then blown apart in a enantiodromia by an emotional outburst. A differentiated emotional relationship, however, a certain distance one, which is different in each case. Jung writes in a letter: (24) "The distance reductions are part of the most important and most difficult chapter of individuation. The danger is always that the distance is only reduced on one side, from which inevitably creates a kind of rape mil subsequent resentment. Every relationship has its optimum distance, which are naturally found empirically must ... The resistors must be carefully considered ... "Young notes that this is particularly difficult between husband and wife, because it interferes even sexuality. A differentiated relationship would be at the same time feeling a deep empathy and warm personal proximity to others as well as a certain distance, an understanding and a lack of understanding, the latter being the silent respect of the mystery of the other person means. For blind and driven lover brings this distance a big pain, but it guarantees him or her and his or her freedom, without which individuation is not possible. This seems to me a point of great importance and future role to be.

In a discussion about the danger of a third war, this time probably nuclear war, Young stated that would be the only drag a worldwide religious movement detected, (25) which led to a general reversal. Since Jung wrote this in 1945, we can observe that tests done in this direction at different locations: a revival of Islam, sects such as the Baha'i, the Korean Moonies, Buddhist missions, or the countless Hindu gurus. They all try to trigger such a world movement, not least the Catholic Church, in the still "the mind touches the animal mass," (26) as well as the recent events in Poland demonstrate once again. But all so1che re1igiösen systems are unfortunately not just a redeeming factor that they have themselves also a dangerous shadow. An archetype that moves the masses out, mostly to the fact that people think that they possessed only the truth, so they pursue dissenters so. Also desirable religious leaders like political leaders time and again that the individual is totally his, identifies the truth that still remains on one side. "Even if there should be a great truth, the identification would thus be something like a disaster by the fact still is more spiritual development. Instead of finding one then has only conviction, and that is sometimes more convenient and "so attractive (27) In other words. A worldwide religious movement we could but for the spiritual desolation of materialism and perhaps save of a third world war, but would still have the disadvantage of supporting a certain mass mentality. Only a conscious understanding of his own shadow and the shadow of the archetypes, that is, the religious forces could protect us from being swept away by the mass psyche and tendency to self-destruction. This means that we have a differentiated sense of relationship-including the required distance to the inner powers need to develop an "I-Thou relationship should produce the self, the deity or the numinosum and develop it instead of an uncritical religious fanaticism, which is based on a possession by the numinosum.

The emotional relationship outside of neighbor and goes to the archetypal powers inside in a strange way, hand in hand. In his memoirs, in fact pointed Jung, that the criterion of a life the relationship with the infinite, ie, the numinous world of the archetype. (28) "Only if I know that the Infinite is the essence, I switch my interest not to Futilitäten ... In the end you will be considered only because of the essential, and if one does not have is wasted life. Also in relation to other people, it is crucial whether the limitless expressed in it or not. " Jung says the fact that a deeper relationship with the other only over the possible self. From I to I usually consist of only superficial interest groups. As the self is affected in a relationship, I can not perform here. Jung has tried to present in his books on the transmission and mystery Coniunctionis. Again and again, but it remains a mysterious adventure of love.

It seems to me-now-to complete that today, boys concerns will gradually understood better than during his lifetime, but that these essential point, the rehabilitation of interpersonal Eros and a more sophisticated sense of relatedness to the transcendent far too little is seen. Too many people see guys statements as a philosophical system or theory or worse than a new collective ideology or a new direction in psychological theory, what are they not all. The analytic process is a process of purely empirical experience in we1chem psychology ultimately transcends itself as a pure science. (29) During this process, all the living encounter with internal and external entities to which we must establish a sense of relationship. Jung's emphasis on individual elements is deliberately and intentionally one-sided, to compensate for the currently prevailing collective bias. "There," he wrote in 1934, (30) "is always the two positions and will give irnmer, namely the position of social leader who, where he is an idealist, salvation in a more or less complete suppression of the individual ( favor del Community) sees, and the spiritual leader who seeks to achieve an improvement only in the individual. I see no possibility of reconciliation between the two, since they form an essential pair of opposites that the world in balance. " Jung saw his own role in the improvement of the individual, what is not without personal and is unique emotional relationship. Maybe he will go down later in the story than that sought knight who brought back the Community of the disappeared Graal vessel, the feminine principle of Eros, that is, as those "homo putissimus" del A1chemie who exuded a rose-colored blood, a new form of healing and all-giving love, which pick up even the just-mentioned dichotomy collective not individual, but could be bridged.

REHABILITATION OF THE ROLE OF THE FEELING OF CG JUNG IN OUR CONTEMPORARY CIVILIZATION

Translation José Zavala and Martha S. Perez

Being a medical student, between 21 and 23 years, Jung gave four lectures to their fellow students in the youth group of Zofingia in Basel. In one, 1897, quotes the following passage from Kant's psychology: "The main cause is always the morality, it is sacrosanct and inhere, we must protect and this is also the foundation and end of all our speculations and research. From here go all metaphysical speculations. God and the "Other World" is the sole end of all our philosophical investigations and whether the concepts of God and the "Other World" are not in relation to morality, would not be at all usable "

Then - after a strong attack on its part to materialism in general - Jung continues: "It must, first. As "top-down revolution, show him as a need morality to science and their representatives through certain transcendental truths ... For example, it is necessary in the Physiological Institute, where, intentionally weakens the force of moral judgments of students, through shameful and barbaric experiments, through cruel torture of animals that mock all mankind - in such institutes, say, teach that " no truth to be investigated through an immoral way, it is attributed right of existence. " (My italics)

After this, go back to Kant and Jung stresses the idea that only believe in realities that are beyond the material world can guarantee roughly an attitude of moral life of man. What I want to highlight through these quotations is that Jung was in itself a kind of introverted thinking but even at this youth conference is to express his feeling. He was never a cold intellectual. From this conference 84 years have passed, and where are we today in connection with this problem?.

The cruel torture of animals has now been extended by the thousands not only in scientific laboratories, but also recently in agriculture and therefore has spread to the torture of countless human beings worldwide. Military experts estimate today how cold blood could be annihilated in a nuclear war millions of human beings. Okay, this is your profession, but no longer can tell they are shocked and depressed when they have to "calculate" this way. Certainly these facts are known, so I better go back to what is close, that is our own field: psychology. There, in the universities as the statistic is the only evidence "hard", ie statistics, are taken seriously, Jung, however, set for a very long time the nail on the head, the statistics paint just an abstract intellectual image of the investigated object, not the reality: for example if we find that a lot of these stones weigh ½ kg on average, actually almost did not find a single stone of the exact weight!. So, we built a model of reality We mix abstract and then with the current reality, but more accurately view, consists of pure exceptions. All are mathematically based sciences this way, and because Jung did not do this is to blame for being "unscientific" - maybe this is even true, but Jung is more realistic. In therapy suppressed the distance from the white coat of the physician who treats the patient as a impersonal object, each patient was his personal feeling, whether it was positive or negative and each time was a personal encounter analysis. Disciples of Jung, who once again smuggled required technical processes such as discussion of the transfer, and simply have returned back to a mindset prejunguiano. This applies especially to the so-called problem of transcendence, that is, the relationship of feeling itself, but is treated as a manipulated variable.

Jung writes in a letter saying: "The transfer solution is often simply that one ceases to describe their relationship as transference. This word devalues the relationship to a mere projection "which is" the transference is an illusion of unity, if viewed from the standpoint of conventional collective. The "uniqueness" exists only and only between individuated human beings, they do not have any other "type of relationships that the individual, ie, unique nature." (1) So - so it must be concluded - should be used only the word "transfer", there, where ambition intentionally devalue any of the illusory projections, but not feeling the relationship is built slowly over the course of treatment .

Of course, a false kindness, and kindness endures all things, as some analysts show their patients, it is also equally false (sic) - is the old general practitioner's role and serve as a means of disguise to avoid engañante to express themselves and genuine feelings, feelings that often are not at all able to love all, ie - not suitable to avoid too - friction and confrontaciones.Esta "person" under certain circumstances "characterized by their kindness "is a derivative of Christian sentimentality which still will return later.

But first, back to the problem of science. Our world modern science and technology and their way of life is fundamentally built by scientists whose primary function is extroverted or introverted thinking. In physics, for example, introverts like Einstein, Bohr, Pauli, etc ... prefer theoretical physics: Extroverts like Werner von Braum, experimental physics. The function of intuition is not entirely excluded, because it requires speculative associations to find new models of thinking.

"But the feeling is not stated anywhere, sometimes only in well-meaning phrases and children, containing all, mostly, the little word "Should." And with the exception of Niels Bohr, all physicists have collaborated mentioned or agreed to collaborate in the manufacture of the atomic bomb!. Today, in USA there is a current among physicists with a trend towards Hindu philosophy, which, indeed, is anti-materialistic, but that in no way considers the individual's life.

What has become inhuman in modern medicine, needs no explanation. The newspapers are full of it, but almost nothing happens. So do not be estimated sufficiently high and the first and solo work of Dr. Kubler Ross who dared take a step in the right direction. Another area

where our sense failure unfortunately is called aid for development. Benno Glauser The doctor has written about this excellent article in the journal of the Swiss Red Cross (2). He exposes how trying to "help" people of other cultures, but at the same time, trying to impose our religious or scientific views and thus destroy the very foundation of spiritual and religious life. Our doctors, missionaries, planners and agricultural advisers leave all of the assumption that we "know" what is right or wrong for others and then increasingly disappointed and angry that these people reject our help with apathy, resistance and called ungrateful.

I quote the article as an Indian Glauser Pai Paraguay told a medical assistant (3): "For us, Pai, health is a state we call" tekoresai. " For this "state of being healthy" (sic) is safeguarded, must be given different things and circumstances, all of which belong to the "state of being healthy" and are: plants and trees individually as a cure all, But also all the plants and trees together, are words made, true and weighed, good nutrition, not acting beyond the thinking and conceiving of others; primary forest, harmony, community people, talk with others and have conversation, the proper conservation of "our way of being" live our true culture and essence of our being, the feeling of strength that we are able to through all the things I mentioned, and holding our community together, to live peacefully in our homeland security, to live together in the family and community of the people, the holidays. Come ye then white and we do depend on the money and other material things: it destroys our "state of being healthy." To you slander, speak ill of others, you take away our earth ground means not having anything to eat, to have nothing to eat means disease and end meteis hand in your pocket and do you find a small white tablet, and want us to believe that if we eat this pill in there, that health was pellet was health. "

everything we do is based as destructive stresses Glauser, a fundamental lack of respect for other human beings and their cultural values of feeling, which are of a different nature, in other words it is based on a distinct lack of genuine feeling. In the background we know exactly about these disastrous effects of our behavior and about the growing hatred of other nations against race white, but we seem not to be able to discover something of this. However

not need to go to people who are so in the distance, the same attitude devoid of feeling prevails among us of one group to another. The planners in our region and our city for example, develop in their neighborhoods and streets city plans to further destroy the happiness of countless human beings. Think objectively, that if a farmer who has been expropriated land get adequate compensation for money or other land for the thing would be solved. But this peasant especially love his piece of land does not "count." Or we get older their poor homes where cats keep and feed birds and are surprised when they die suddenly in their so-called new, better and more hygienic neighborhood, where or cats or birds do their business. But

What we do?, "Changing our policy, and then our laws? Is that handles these issues openly latter?. Eric Newman, so militant, wanted to establish in his book "Psychology of the deep and new ethic" new lists of moral rules, his book has hit the bottom but yielded no results, probably not this the way to deal with problem. I believe that the 22 year old Jung hit the nail on the head, that is, we must first recognize the "reality of the soul", ie the unconscious, and thereby also the reality of the image of God or the Self, and a reality transmaterial before we catch anything else. Let me give an example: not long ago here in Germany gave a lecture on dreams of people close to death that seem to point towards a possible life after death. After the conference, a nurse approached me with tears in my eyes and said: "! What you said can not be true, otherwise it should be recognized that such dreadful things are in my ...!" (She said), but clearly had mistreated dying patients - perhaps they had stolen - the view that they would no longer be conscious, so their actions would have no consequences. But of course, what if your soul was a still hang round?. That would be something else. It is no coincidence that Dr. Kubler-Ross now begin to address, as I have heard of spiritualism. It is the logical consequence of his work with people nearing death, if not convinced, as we will be us, the reality of the unconscious, his feeling this phone.

In all religions of all time there was and is the representation of a God or gods and a world in "Beyond," non-material life: and he alone, can form the foundation of ethics to a more real. So Jung says that "turning a blind eye of divinity seems to have the value everywhere and always, to be as evil and profoundly deeper begetter" (4)

Conversely, the essence of all ethics is based on the phenomenon of consciousness, ie in the 1st feeling relationship between "individual and the transcendent" (5) or the archetype of the Self.

What we instead we experience in the rough material world, is to "give over the unjust suffering and triumph injustice. Because of honesty, "if it is put into practice, it is taken for a fool naive. Ino-cent suffering from the early Christian martyrs served at least one effect on the mass and converted many to Christianity.

But who still remembers the name of this young German schoolteacher, who voluntarily went to the gas chamber to comfort Jewish students?. What is causing the suffering of dissidents, and courageous Christians in Russia? Nothing! We read about it in newspapers, and we set aside with a resigned shrug.

Dr. Liliane Frey has published dream, a dying patient whose life had been a succession of external failures. He dreamed: (6) "A voice ... I said: Your work and suffering deliberately walked through have redeemed a hundred generations before you and light a hundred generations after you. "Here again is the existence of a world beyond what crucially important. In a There is no material world only consolation for this man.

But why this has particularly to do with the function of feeling? Is not recognizing an important psychic reality for each of the four functions of consciousness ?. Obviously, if the ethics of values is "ultimately a highly differentiated product function of feeling" (7), Jung writes, it also requires a certain intelligence, on which I shall return. But in any case ethics can not exist without feeling different, otherwise it becomes a rigid code of conduct rules, ie a pure collective duty: "I have to", "should I". Everyone can experience that when for example a police ordinance is applied simple schematic, or in po-scale we can see how the Russian state apparatus.

Now someone might argue, then where are the guys who have the feeling as main function, namely should also exist in large numbers in all people?, why they do not compensate for this deficiency?. Here we make a distinction between the existence of sentimental types, and the collective style of the era, and collective activity-tion of a culture. Naturally we have many types differentiated sentimental feeling between us, but the fashion, the collective spirit of action and value does not recognize the feeling. That weakens the influence of feeling even the guys that have the main function. Plus, the lower a kind of feeling, as we know, is thinking, which have so often the lower tendencies of the time: in ours, materialism and intellectualism flights. We see, for example in more of a Latin culture, a preference for the Communist ideology in its most simplistic, while the town itself is rather little lacking in feelings and relationships, and instead are more people than Latin. I think here in Spain, Italy and some South American countries. What is especially bad is that the official spirit of the times today devalues the feeling. We often hear the trial - for example, against the opponents of nuclear power - which they "claim only sentimental arguments rather than rational basis for its application", and certainly with the implicit sense that a sentimental argument is, eo ipso nonsense. In a similar way this appears in the riots by youths armed rebels. Some well-meaning attempts to try again and again come into contact with the young rebels in a "reasonable" (in quotes!) Entirely without result, because these young people are moved by feelings completely confused, mostly nega-tive, not can be translated in a language of thinking or perceiving. Many governments are proposing a program described as powerful support for young people without work in order to enable a subsequent instruction. That is surely good and just, but will it help enough?. Will it turn from a young rebel without a job if you learn a little more information. Do we know that the Soviets paid in part to these rebels, but is it enough then we give them money too?. I do not think we can fix a lot, if we ourselves remain at the level of mate-imperialist thinking rationally, not that this is completely false and only false when we believe everything. Jung wrote in a letter (8) "we have come to be unilaterally and rationalist intellectuals you" and have completely forgotten that There are still other factors that are influenced by the righteousness of reason and understanding. So we see everywhere ignite an emotional mystic from the Middle Ages had been missing. This is a compensation ra-ask too technical progress.

therefore need, rather than understanding and reason, as these are further irritate young, we should be able to offer an overview of new and creative ways of being a global spiritual standpoint and not material, as all-in my think we should be able to build a relationship with the unconscious as a transcendent reality, beyond the senses, a relationship that should not only be made with the understanding, but also with feeling and emotion.

What happens to the many forms of Eastern mysticism that have become so fashionable in the West?. They too have become too easily among us again something intellectual in the final. instance apply them in thinking and intuition, or as ways of Yoga, to perception. These teachings are, as Jung points out, more properly theological systems that have little or no account at all, the individual and his individual relationship with the Divine. "For too, Eastern wisdom, he writes, (9) is replaced immediate experience and thus access to psychology. But it is conceivable that men always try to first go through all the beaten track-two, before they decide to embark on the road as ever trod. "And in a

. Letter to Miguel Serrano (10) also writes:" You chose two good representatives of East and West. Krishnamurti is totally irrational and leave the solutions to the passivity, ie leaves, as belonging to Mother Nature, happen by themselves. Toynbee, meanwhile, believes that opinions, opinions can be built and shaped. Neither one nor the other believes in the flowering and deployment of the individual as an experiment and a dubious and misleading work of the living God. He must lend our eyes and ears and minds .. dora discrimination "(because God wants us to take place in consciousness)" We need urgently a truth or a self, in a manner similar to that of ancient Egypt, as I I found the Indians still live in Taos-Villages. The ceremonial head of girls of their worship, the old Ochwiah Biano (Mountain Lake) told me: "We are the people who live on the roof of the world, are the children of Sun is our Father. Every day we help you up ..... We do not do just for ourselves, but also by American .... If they go ahead impidiéndonoslo, in 10 years the sun will no more. " With the right meant that their days, their light, their consciousness and die if the narrow sense of the destroyed American rationalism. And that will happen to the world, if delivered at the same rationalism.

Elsewhere (11) Jung emphasizes that when we en-uncritically the teachings of the East, and for us the ideas are often more important than their own internal vi-da, hope and ecstasy-releasing origi-nal experience are lost early and petrified in a predominantly intellectual effort, so that instead of original experience have exerted an imitation as a method.

Many eastern methods become unconscious even to oppress rather than establishing a relationship with him (12). All this may be sufficient to show that Jung's vision there can be no ethics without an original and lively experience of the divine. There is not by adherence to a theological doctrine or otherwise. The original experience can be experienced only by the individual, I have not experienced it is never really real to me, can exist in my head as an idea or opinion, but not experience. One thing is that I know only from books that exist-ing the elephant, and one I've seen, tracked, touched one of them. Only this is a actual experience, if I myself experiment something with all functions, including the feeling.

But then what about the Christian love of neighbor - is not this in the background that we seek and what we should return? Surely Christianity at first was a total experience of feeling. The prime-ros Christians were mostly slaves, and non-cultivated, and love between brothers and sisters created a fruitful link between them. Many early Christians even boasted of being intellectual. But soon the indoctrination theological, dogmatic disputes and persecution of other faiths won the frontal and the universal love of neighbor was restricted by the principle of power, that mortal enemy of all forms of love.

The Marxist theme of international solidarity is more than a return to the ideal spectrum of love from the early Christians, but based on the transcendent side, but only in relation to the 1st side only material existence.

In our time all the nations of the earth have come in the technical, economic and intellectual and we need especially the feeling of a general partnership. So this is a triumph in the communist propaganda (13). But as the Soviet system disappointed many of his supporters in this regard, many turned to Eurocommunism and the like. In South America, Che Guevara has often been held to the letter, as a sort of he-hero of love, especially for women. Despite all the disappointments also many church representatives from all denominations are turning to Marxism because they feel that is close to the ideal of brotherly love of early Christianity. But where will we find the power shows opposite results.

Jung writes (14): "The more collective systems, political parties and state whether they act destructively on human relationships. These can be easily destroyed, because individual men are still in a state of unconsciousness which has not developed at par with the tremendous growth and fusion of the masses. As we know, in all totalitarian countries governing the main concern of mine the personal relationships with fear and distrust, so there arises a fragmented mass, in which the human soul is stifled completely. Even the parent-child relationship that is as close and natural, is torn by the state (...). The only way to prevent this is to develop awareness of the human being individually. By this means he becomes immune to the seduction of the organizations co-teaching. Only because it retains its soul for the soul's life depends on human relations (15). The focus should be on that man becomes conscious and non-state organization ".

And elsewhere writes (16):" The reciprocal membership and coexistence of mankind is one of the most important questions of existence . But this is complicated by having to also be an individual matter, it is only possible when society has a value only re1ativo. otherwise it floods and destroys even the individual, and then it does not already exist. In other words : A genuine partnership can only be made by independent in-dividuals which only so much can be social beings. Only they can carry out the will of God exists in each one ... "(The society needs genuine" psychological understanding and empathy at different points of view).

Many young people, mainly left-leaning, are now experimenting with life in communities, trying - so worthy - a new form of relationship in society. But from what I've experienced it, such communities are torn open again and again because of their infighting. The enthusiastic feelings of a loving acceptance of another does not hold when it comes to everyday life, because it is too idealistic and sentimental undifferentiated. As a consequence affects instead explosive popping society. But affection and emo-tions are the signs of an undifferentiated feeling. I examined some young men living in communities, and was going on in other people as well as about their romantic relationships, but the case in most ca-sos they left the original community and instead created a circle of personal friends.

Today, many are a form of worship of feelings and emotions: positive, in the form of musical happenings, or negative, by quarrels or fights. Those who dispute that often created by expressing feelings but that's not entirely true however, as the feelings only in their primitive state are attached to emotions, but instead the distinct feeling is not at all emo-tion (17). Emotions and affections are consciously promoting something unhealthy and ultimately lead to destruction. But what has that to do with Christian love of neighbor and then worldly-matter 1 in the Co-Socialism and Communism? (18). Its positive aspect is a general human empathy that we re-lation to all men but the downside is the sentiment and emotional child, which is not simply the opposite side of the brutality (19).
As our old ladies
woven wool pants for little black naked slave traders of these confessions were destroying the lives of thousands of black men. This applies just as an example to show that sentimentality and brutality are two sides of a coin. So we can not regression-child sar such Christian love of neighbor, but we must turn to him as a general human love in a higher level. What would this more or less?, Jung calls it "a new form of Eros (Love), which has an all-encompassing action, curative and irradiating an individuated personality. (20)

This Eros is also a female principle recognized (21). This form of love is "was symbolized by the alchemical tradition of a strange picture: the blood of co-lor pink, exuding from the stone of the wise or" homo putíssimus "and cures to all men. Homo means man putissimus exudate or the more genuine (not mixed), as opposed to homo purisimus Christ, the purest man (22). He is a man who knows all that is human and is not distorted by any outside influence or mixture. The free the world from evil to the end of time by its pink blood. This represents some kind of Eros, which unifies both it and the mu-chos, and returns total the individual and the crowd, and which has to compensate for the lack of feeling of our times, a form of love that is linked with a higher self and inner vision. That far out Christian love was too blind and without insight, for it can be explained to the Inquisition. "The more love is blind," says Jung, (23) therefore is more instinctive and impulsive, and leads to destructive consequences, it is a dynamis you need shape and orientation. " For correct use needs therefore a larger con-science and higher point of view, as an unconscious man is ex-travian by their projections and so can not see the other at all and love is co-mo. Too unconsciousness creates the feeling away, but also occurs early closeness too big, too close, a do-together without criticism, which they des-enantiodromia explodes in bursts through mutual affection. A sentiment relations differential change involves a certain distance, in each ca-so different. Jung writes in a letter: (24) "The shortening of the chapter it belongs more important and more difficult inividuación process. The danger is always that distance is built in the form only unilateral, which inevitably emerges a form of violence followed the consequent resentment. Any re-lation has its optimal distance that naturally must be found empirically you. Objections must be carefully considered ... "Jung emphasizes the fact that this is especially difficult between man and woman, and then mixed sexuality too. A distinct feeling relationship would therefore be both a sympathetic and warm personal closeness to the other, and likewise also a certain distance, an understanding and not understanding, which means the silent secret respected tar of another human being. For a blind and instinctive lover this distance causes great pain, but assures him or her also their own freedom, without which individuation is possible. This seems a point of great importance and significance for the future.

In a discussion about the danger of a third war, this time from an atomic war, Jung has said that the only opposing force could be a universal religious movement (25) leading to a complete shift. Since Jung wrote this in 1945, we see that there have been attempts in this direction in several places: for example a revival of Islam, sects and the Bahai, Korean Moonies, Buddhist missions or incon-tables Hindu gurus. They all try to encourage this global movement and not less the Catholic Church, in which time and again ", the spirit animal touches the ground" (26), as recent events in Poland showed again. But unfortunately all these religious systems are not just a redeeming factor, they themselves have themselves also a dangerous som-bra. An archetype that moves the masses, mainly leads people to think that they alone hold the truth so why persecute those who think otherwise. In addition, religious leaders aspire again and again along the lines of political leaders, to fully identify the individual with his truth, a truth which remains nevertheless always unilateral. "Even if it were a great truth, the identification with it would, however, something of a disaster, because the subsequent spiritual development will stagnate. Instead of knowledge has then only conviction, and this is much easier therefore more attractive "(27). In other words, a universal religious movement could save us from spiritual destruction of materialism, and perhaps a third world war, but would always have the disadvantage to provide for a certain mob mentality. Only a conscious insight led to its own shadow and the shadow of the archetypes, that is, religious forces could protect the psyche gregaria and its tendency to be drawn into self-destruction. But that means we must develop a distinct feeling - including the required distance - towards the inner powers - should establish a relationship of self to you with the Self, the divine or numinous, and instead not to develop instead an uncritical religious fanaticism based on the possession by the numinous.

's relationship with the similar feeling out and archetypal powers in the interior is complemented funny. In his memoirs Jung emphasizes that the standard of life is the relationship with the unlimited, ie the numinous world of the archetype (28). "Only when-do I know what unlimited is essential, do not waste my interest in trivia ... Ultimately only has value because of the essential, and if it is not that life has been wasted. Also in relation to other men what matters is whether what is expressed in it unlimited or not. " Jung meant by this that a deep relationship with others is possible only by the Self-ble Mimo. I usually only associations exist to me surface of-interest. As the Self is achieved in a relationship, I can not say. Jung has attempted to show in his books on the transfer and Coniunctionis Mysterium. But again and again remains a mysterious adventure of Love

I think - to conclude - that today's request Jung is becoming better understood during his lifetime, but in this most essential point, the rehabilitation of human-Eros human and distinct relationship with the transcendent feeling is still considered too little. Many people consider the proposals of Jung as a philosophical system or theory or even worse, a new collective ideology or a new orientation in theory psychological, something none of them is. The analytical process is a process of pure empirical experience, in which psychology as a pure science is finally transcended (29). During this process, everything becomes a living encounter with inner and outer bodies beef, with whom we establish a relationship of sentiment. Jung puts the accent on the individual elements is consciously and purposely so unilateral, pa-ra counteract the current prevailing collective unilateralism. "There's always - written around 1934 (30) - two points of view and always will be, the leader's point of view social leader, which, as far as idealistic sees salvation in a more or less complete suppression of the individual (for society) and the spiritual leader who seeks to achieve an improvement only on the individual. I see no possibility of reconciliation between them, since they form a pair of opposites must keep the world in balance. " Jung saw his own work on improving the individual, which just does not work without a feeling relationship, personal and unique. Maybe later he enters any time in history, as the gentleman sought to bring back to society the former crown of the Grail, the feminine principle of Eros, that is, as that "homo putissimus" of Alchemy, which oozed a pink blood - a new way of healing and all-embracing love, which failed to neutralize the opposing pair of recently called collective-individual, but nevertheless was able to build a bridge between them.

Rehabilitation sentimental de la fonction dans notre civilization par CG Jung

Marie Louise von Franz

The s'agit de la dernière conférence Donnée par Marie Louise von Franz Küsnacht in 1997. Initially introduced in Germany in 1982 under the title "CG Jung's Rehabilitation der in unserer gefühlsfunktion Zivilisation, this translation is based on the version published in German on the occasion of his 75th birthday (Beiträge zur Jung'schen Psychology, Victor Orenga Editores, Valencia. 1990).

Translation: "Friends of alchemy," cgjung.net

At the age of 21-23 years, during his medical studies Jung gave four lectures front of his classmates of the corporation Zofingia in Basel. In one of them, in 1897, he cites the following passage from Kant's psychology: "The bottom line is always the character and this is the holy and invincible, that we must protect this and is also the foundation and goal of all our speculations and research. All metaphysical speculations arising therefrom. God and the "other world" are the only goals of our research and if philosophical concepts of God and the "other world" does not depend on morality, they would not help. "

Then, after a sharp attack against materialism in general, Jung continues: "We must first line as" revolution from above "imposed on science and its representatives morality by some transcendent truths [...] We must, for example, Physiological Institute in which we weaken the moral voluntarily students through experiments shameful and barbaric torture by cruel to animals, devoid of any humanity in such institutes, "I must be taught that no truth sought by immoral means will be granted a moral justification. "

Then Jung returns to Kant, and stresses the idea of it that only the belief in the truths that lie beyond the crass material world, can ensure a moral human being. What I want to highlight these quotations is that Jung was in itself a kind of introverted thinker, but even in this account of youth, his feelings expressed. It was never an intellectual cold. Eighty-four years have passed since this statement and where are we today compared to this problem?

The cruel torture of animals has multiplied by thousands, not only in laboratories scientists, but also recently in agriculture. It spread as a result of torture of countless people worldwide. Military experts now calculate how coolly, in an atomic war, millions of people could be annihilated. Okay, it's their job, but we do not notice they are upset or depressed when they have to calculate that. However, these facts are known and so I'll turn first to what we are nearest our own domain, in fact, psychology. In universities, statistics is an asset, only the hard data, ie statistics, are taken seriously. Jung, however, has long put her finger on the sore spot: the statistics tell only intellectually abstract image of the scanned object and not its reality. If, for example, we find that in a heap of stones, they weigh about half a kilogram, in fact we find almost no stone exactly what weight. Thus, we construct an abstract model of reality and then we mix it with the current reality, however, a closer view, consists only of exceptions. All the sciences based on mathematics after this way and because Jung did not follow the movement, was accused of being "unscientific" - that is true some times, but Jung was more realistic -. In therapy, it has eliminated the distance with the white coat of the doctor who treats the patient how an object impersonal. Jung met with each patient's personal feelings, it was positive or negative, and he made each analysis session a personal encounter. The disciples of Jung again surreptitiously introducing technical processes such as discussion of the required transfer have simply fallen into a mode of thought pre-Jungian. This particularly concerns the so-called transfer problem, that is precisely the relationship of feeling treated as a given handle.

In a letter, Jung wrote explicitly: "The dissolution of the transfer is often the fact that we constantly define their relationship as a transfer." This word belittles the relationship to a simple projection, it is not. The transfer is in the illusion of uniqueness, when considered in terms of collective and conventional. The uniqueness lies not only between individual beings, they have other reports that individual reports, it is say unique. [1] is why - and we must conclude - the word transfer should be used only where there is a tendency to deliberately devalue illusory projections, but not for the romantic relationship that is established slowly over treatment.

course, a false goodness and kindness that support everything, as some analysts show towards their patients, are equally false, and they succeed the former general's role and serve as camouflage for not expressing his own feelings, feelings that are often not at all a universal love, but used to circumvent the frictions and confrontations. This kindness towards the person is a derivative of Christian sentimentality, which I will later.

Let us return to the first issue of Science. Our modern world of science and technology and lifestyle are largely constructed by scholars whose primary function is introverted or extroverted thinking, coupled with an extra sense or introverted. In physics, for example, introverts like Einstein, Bohr, Pauli, etc ... prefer theoretical physics; extroverts, like Wernher von Braun, experimental physics. The intuitive is not completely excluded because we need to speculative ideas to find new ways of thinking.

But the feeling is nowhere expressed mostly in childish phrases and caring that contain all the little word "should". And with the exception of Niels Bohr, all cited physicists have worked or wanted to collaborate in the manufacture of atomic bombs. Nowadays, physicists in the USA, there is a tendency to Hindu philosophy, which in truth is anti-materialist, but that does not value the life of the individual.

No need to expose how modern medicine has become inhuman. The newspapers are full, but nothing happens. We therefore can not estimate high enough working alone, pioneer, without criticism of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler Ross, who has dared take a step in the right direction.

Another area where our feeling has failed miserably, is the so-called development aid. Dr. Benno Glauser wrote on this subject an excellent article in the journal of the Swiss Red Cross [2] . It exposes how we try to "help" people of other cultures at the same time trying to impose our religion or our scientific views and destroying their own religious and spiritual foundation. Our doctors, missionaries, agricultural planners and advisers are all starting the precondition that we "know" what is good or bad for others. They are then either disappointed or angry when these people refuse to help with our apathy, resistance or so-called ingratitude.

I quote in the article by Pai Glauser is an Indian of Paraguay told a cooperating doctor: "For us, Pai, health is a state we call" tekoresai "so that" state to be in good "is guaranteed certain things and conditions must be given. All are part of the "to be in good condition" and are the constituent elements: plants and trees as individual remedies, but all plants and all the trees together, the words of truth and balanced good nutrition does not act over the heads of others, the rainforest, harmony, community village, talking with others, maintain our "way of life", living our own culture and our way of life, the feeling of strength given to us by all the things I mentioned, the maintenance of our community, live quiet and safe in our country coexistence in the family and the village festivals. Then you, the whites, you arrive and you make us dependent on money and other material things, it destroys our "good health". You hold of bad speech, you talk ill of others. You take our land, not having land means no food, no food means the disease. And finally, you put your hand in your pocket, you pull out a small white pill and you want us to believe that by eating this pill can find health, that this pill is health .... "

All our destructive activity, as highlighted Glauser, based a fundamental lack of respect for each other and different cultural values, in other words a lack of genuine feeling differential. Basically, we know precisely the catastrophic effects of our behavior and the growing hatred of other nations to the white race, but we seem not to be able to fight against it.

However, we do not need to go as far remote tribes in the same indifferent attitude also prevails in our group to another. Our urban and regional planners projètent on the drawing board plans of cities and roads that destroy thereafter happiness of countless people. They think coolly as if a farmer receives proper compensation for expropriated or other replacement land, the thing is settled justly. But this peasant loves his plot may be that, it does not count. Or, we go out of their people aged slum where they feed on cats and birds and we are surprised when they die then whisked their new environment supposedly better and more hygienic as no cat or bird does dirt.

But then, what should we do? Change our policy because our legislation? Because the latter deals with these problems clearly. Erich Neumann wanted to establish new moral codes so militant in his book Depth Psychology and New Ethics ", his book was printed, but in the end, it produced no result. Presumably this is not the way to handle this problem. I think that CG Jung, 22, has put his finger on the main point, namely that we must first recognize the "reality of the soul", ie also of the unconscious and reality God or the Self and reality transmatérielle before tackling any other thing. An example: I recently a conference in Germany on the dreams of dying, which suggests a possible life after death. After the conference, a nurse came to me crying and she said: "What you said can not and must not be true, otherwise I should confess such horrible things ...." She did not say anything, but she obviously has mishandled dying patients can be stolen at'elle, thinking they were more aware, so that his act had no consequences. But, of course, if their souls were still there? It would be another matter. It is no coincidence that Dr. Kübler Ross begins to deal with spiritualism, as I hear say. This is the logical continuation of his work with the dying - probably when - like us, the reality of the unconscious. His sense leads consequently to this approach.

In all religions of all times and there exists a representation of a god or gods and of "a world beyond" is a non-material life and that alone can constitute the foundation of a true ethics . "The deviation of Numen" Jung wrote for that reason "seems to go everywhere and always the worst evil and the most original."

And conversely, the existence of any ethics based on the phenomenon of consciousness, ie on a sentimental relation between "the individual and the transcendental or the archetype of the Self. What

by cons, we live in the crass material world is everywhere unjust suffering and triumph of injustice. For good behavior is going to fool naive when used. The suffering of innocent first Christian martyrs had notable consequences at least on the ground and converted many to Christianity. But who remembers today the name of this young German schoolteacher who went voluntarily with his Jewish schoolchildren in the gas chamber to console? What effect has the plight of dissidents and courageous Christians in Russia? Nothing! We read in the newspapers and we rely with a resigned shrug.

Dr. Liliane Frey has published the dream of a dying patient, whose life was a series of field failures. He dreamed: "... A voice said:" Your work and your sufferings you have endured consciously issued hundred generations before you and will mark a hundred generations after you. "

Again, the existence of a world beyond is crucial. In a material world only, there is no solace to this man.

But why should he have to do specifically with the function sentimental? Is the recognition of psychic reality is not important for the four functions of consciousness? Obviously the values of ethics is "essentially a product of highly differentiated emotional function" as Jung wrote, but it also requires some intelligence, to which I will later. But in any case, ethics can not exist without feelings differentiated, otherwise it becomes a rigid code of conduct, ie a pure collective obligation. Everyone can experience this when such a simple arrangement is applied police schematically, where large scale we can see how the state machinery in Russia?

Now someone might argue: so where are the kinds of feelings that eventually should be present in sufficient numbers in each population? Why do not they make up this state of emergency? We need to make a difference here between the existence of types and fashion collective sense of time and the collective attitude of a culture. Of course, we have many type feeling with a sense differential among us, but fashion, the spirit of conduct and a collective understanding, does not recognize the feeling. This weakens the influence of sentiment even among the types feeling. In addition, the function of a minor type feeling is, as we know, thought. This will often result in currents of less value in our time, the cheap materialism and intellectualism. Thus, we see no example in many Latin cultures prefer communist ideology in its most stupid as people themselves are rather less devoid of feelings and less educated than many non-Latin peoples. I think here in Spain, Italy and many South American states. What is so bad everywhere, is that the zeitgeist today devalues the feeling. We often hear, for example the decision (eg against ANA) they do that "arguments based on feelings instead of rational arguments for their cause" and that with the sub understood that a feeling is a co ipso imbecility. The same is found for disorders of youth. Instances of right-thinking constantly trying to deal with "reasonably" with rebellious youth, totally without success because these kids are filled with feelings opaque and largely negative, they can not be translated using the thought or feeling. Several governments are proposing, it is true, a generous aid program specifically for young unemployed to facilitate their further training. It is surely right and good, but will it be sufficient support? Can a rebellious young unemployed will cease to rebel if he learns a little more electronics? We know that the Soviets pay some of these rebels, but is this enough to add money? I do not think we can achieve many things if we keep ourselves at the materialistic thought reasonable, not that it is false, as a whole, it is only wrong when we say it all . Jung wrote in a letter that "we have become unilaterally intellectualist and rationalist" and that "we have totally forgotten that there are other factors that do not allow themselves not influenced by the straightness of reason and understanding. Hence we see everywhere a blaze of mystical emotionality that had been declared extinct since the Middle Ages. " This is a compensation of technical progress made too quickly.

So we need more than understanding and reason because these irritate even more young people. We should be able to offer an overview of new and creative being and, namely, a vision of mind as all non-materialistic. In my opinion we should be able to establish a relationship with the unconscious as above sensory reality to which we must refer not only with understanding, but also with feeling and emotion. What about the many forms of Eastern mysticism are as fashionable among us? With us, they too easily become something of an intellectual, they are directed primarily at the thought and intuition, or, as a form of yoga to the sensation. These teachings are indeed, as Jung points out, indeed theological systems which do little or nothing if the individual and his individual relationship to the divine. "For too much about East" he writes, "has replaced direct experience and thus, access to psychology is blocked. However, it is conceivable that men first try all avenues before deciding to make the journey into the unknown. "

In a letter to Miguel Serrano continues: "You've chosen two good representatives of the East and West. Krishnamurti is completely irrational and he abandons the solutions to the inertia, ie, he leaves it alone, as belonging to mother nature. Toynbee for his part believes that opinions can be formed and molded. Neither one nor the other believes in the emergence and development of the individual as an experiment and a work of dubious and confusing living god. To him we must lend our eyes and our ears and our critical "(because God wants us to reach our consciousness). "We urgently need a truth or evidence, like that of ancient Egypt, as I found living in Taos Pueblo. The leader of their cult, the old Ochwïah Biano (Lake Highlands) said: "We are the people who live on the roof of the world, we are the son of the sun who is our father. Every day we help to get up ... We are not doing this just for ourselves but for Americans ... If they continue and keep us, then they will see that in 10 years the sun will never rise again. He rightly recognized that their day, their light, their consciousness and their spirit will die if the narrow-minded rationalism destroyed the U.S.. This will happen to the world, even if it is delivered to rationalism. "

Elsewhere, Jung pointed out that if we endorse the teachings of the East, without criticism, opinions are obviously more important for us that life in our own inside, so that hope and ecstasy liberating experience primitive figeront soon in an effort essentially intellectual, so that instead of a primary experience, we will have a built in imitation method. Many eastern methods

oppress even unconscious, instead of establishing a relationship with him. All this is enough to show that in the context of Jung, it can not be any real ethics without a living experience of the divine. It is not related to any theological education. The original experiment can not be experienced by the individual, which I did not experience, is never really real to me, it can exist in my head as an idea or opinion, but this is not experience. It makes a big difference if I know the elephants by my reading and if I know they exist or if I've seen, felt or touched one. That alone is an experience myself when I saw something with all my duties, including the feeling.

But what about Christian charity? Is not ultimately what we seek and what we should return? Certainly Christianity began as largely an experiment. The early Christians were mostly slaves and uneducated people and their brotherly love for each other created a fertile link between them. Many early Christians even boasted of not being intellectual. But soon the doctrinaire theological, doctrinal disputes and the persecution of heretics took over and universal charity was restricted by the principle of power, the hereditary enemy of all forms of love.

The Marxist slogan of international solidarity is in many ways a return to the ideal of love of the early Christians, but no transcendental foundation, referring only to hardware side of it.

In our time, all nations of the earth have converged on the technical, economic and spiritual development and for that we particularly need a general sense of community. It is even one of the assets in Communist propaganda. Since the Soviet system has disappointed on this point many of his supporters, many turn to a Eurocommunism or something similar. In South America, Che Guevara is often literally celebrated as a kind of hero of love, especially by women. Despite all the disappointments, many clergy of all denominations are turning to Marxism, because they feel it is close to the ideal of brotherly love, dear to the early Christians. But where communism took power, he has produced conflicting results. Jung wrote: "The collective systems, called political party or State, produce a destructive effect on human relationships. These can be easily destroyed because people are still in a state of unconsciousness that is by no means done for the enormous growth and fusion of the masses. As we know, in all states totalitarian, the primary concern tends to destroy personal relationships with fear and distrust, so that creates a fragmented mass, in which the human soul is completely suffocated. Even the parent - child relationship, the closest and most natural is torn by the State [...] The only way to stop this is to develop awareness of the individual. Thus, it immunized against the temptations of collective organizations. So just save his soul rest, for his life based on human relationships. Emphasis should be placed on developing human consciousness and not on the organization state. And elsewhere: "The cohesion and coexistence of mankind are one of the most important existential questions. But it is complicated by the fact that the individual must be independently present, which is possible only if the community has only relative value. Otherwise she drowns and destroys the individual and even then it is even more. In other words, a true community can be formed by autonomous individuals who, to some extent, may be collective beings "(True community requires" psychological understanding and approach of different points of view ").

Many young people, most of the left, now experimenting community life, by experiencing a new kind of community relationship. But to finish with what I learned, such communities continue to explode due to internal disputes. The feeling enthusiastic acceptance in love with each other does not when it comes to everyday life because it is too undifferentiated ideally. Crisis explosive burst the community. Crises and emotions are the signs of feeling indifferent. I analyzed a few young men who lived together and it went as among other people, even in regard to their romantic relationships. However, this leads most of the time they leave their communities of origin and they create a circle of personal friends. Today, many are a kind of worship from crises and emotions: positive form of "Happenings" musical or negative spillovers. Protesters often think they express feelings, which is not quite true because the feelings are only in a primitive state, coupled with the emotions by feeling against differential is not at all emotional. Cultivating emotions and crises of conscious is sickly and eventually leads to self-destruction. What does not concord between Christian love of neighbor and its extensions in the temporal and materialistic socialism and communism? Their positive aspect is a certain community of human feelings that connects us to all men, but their downside is puerile sentimentality and emotional, which is nothing other than the reverse of the brutality. While our old ladies knit panties Wool pickaninnies the naked slave traders of the same denominations were destroying the lives of thousands of blacks. This is an example that shows the brutality and sentimentality are two sides of one coin. We can not revert to such childish Christian charity but we must return to her as love of neighbor universal level. What does it look like it? Jung called this a new form of Eros (Love) has a curative effect and which is the radiation of individual personality.

This eros is recognized as a feminine principle. This form of love was symbolized in the alchemical tradition by a strange figure, with blood-colored pink, which exudes from the stone of sages or "homo putissimus" and heal all people. Homo putissimus is the name of the man the purest and most genuine, as opposed to Christ, homo purissimus, which is the purest human being. He is a man who knows everything that is human and that is falsified by any foreign influence or no mixing. He is said to deliver the world from evil in the end times by his blood pink. This symbolizes a certain Eros unites the individual to a single or group of individuals and must compensate for lack of feeling of our time, a form of love which is connected to a superior knowledge of self and tolerance. Former Christian love was too blind and intolerant, you can even explain where the Inquisition. "More love is blind," said Jung, "The more he is impulsive and destructive consequences of threat because it is a dynamic that lacks the shape and direction." For its proper use should be expanded awareness and a higher base because a man is abused by his unconscious projections and therefore can not see and love others, as it is. Too much feeling of unconsciousness produced most of the time a close too large, too close a rapprochement without trial in a enantiodromia which is sprayed by an explosion of emotions. By cons, a relationship includes a differentiated sense of distance, different in each case. Jung wrote in a letter: "The reductions are part of Chapter distance the most important and most difficult process of individuation. The danger is always that distance is reduced unilaterally, it inevitably comes a kind of rape with a consequent resentment. Every relationship has its optimum distance (the optimal distance) to be naturally found empirically. Resistors must be carefully followed. . Jung stresses that this is particularly difficult for men and women because he also mingled sexuality. A romantic relationship would be differentiated both a deep understanding and personal closeness of the other warm. But it would also be a certain distance, an understanding and not understanding, the latter meaning the silent respect of the mystery of another person. For a blind and impulsive lover, this distance makes a big pain, but she assures him or her own freedom, without which individuation is not possible. This seems to be a point of great importance and great significance for the future.

During a discussion on the danger of a third war, this time Atomic, Jung said that the only opposition force could be a religious movement with a global leading to a general conversion. Since Jung wrote that in 1945 we can observe that attempts in this direction are held in different locations: a rebirth of Islam, sects such as Bahai, the Moon in Korea, or the countless missions Buddhist Hindu Gurus . They are trying to provoke such a global movement, the church Catholic is not the last, which always "spirit touches the animal mass, as demonstrated by recent events in Poland. But like all religious systems are unfortunately not just a factor of hello, they also have a dangerous shadow. An archetype, which moves the masses led most of the time that people think that they alone possess the truth so they continue to do those who think otherwise. In addition, religious leaders, as political leaders, tend constantly to what the individual identifies with his truth, the truth is always unilateral. "Even if it were to be a great truth, identification with it would be a disaster because it would stop the further spiritual development. Instead of knowledge, we no longer believe that and it's sometimes more comfortable and more attractive for that. In other words, a universal religious movement could save us from the spiritual desolation of materialism and maybe a third world war, but he still has the drawback of supporting a mass mentality. Only an inner perception facing our own shadow and the shadow of archetypes is to say the religious powers, could protect us from being swept away by the mass psyche and tendency to self-destruction. That means we must develop a romantic relationship differentiated, including the required distance to the inner powers, and that we must establish a relationship between you and me with the Self, the Godhead, or the numinous, not instead develop uncritical religious fanaticism, which is based on a possession by the numinous.

sentimental relationship to others outside and to the archetypal forces inside complement each strange. In his memoirs, Jung said in effect that the standard of life is the relationship to infinity. "Only when I know that infinity is the important thing, I do not my interest to trivia. Ultimately only the essential has value, and if I can not win, life is ruined. Even in relation to another, it is crucial to know if infinity is expressed in him or not. Jung means by that a deeper relationship with others is possible only through the self. From me to me there most of the time that communities of interest superficial. How the Self takes place in a relationship, we can not expose here. Jung tried to explain in his books on the transfer and in Mysterium Conjunctionis. But it remains a mysterious adventure ever love.

It seems to me to conclude now that the attitude of Jung is gradually being understood better than the living. However, this point, most important, ie rehabilitation of eros between men and emotional relationship to the transcendent differentiated, is still insufficiently taken into account. Too many people see the submissions of Jung as a philosophical system or theory, or even worse, as a new ideology or a new collective psychological counseling, they are not at all. The analytic process is a process of pure empirical experience, in which psychology ultimately transcends itself as a pure science. During this process, everything is transformed into a living encounter with internal and external entities with which we need to have a romantic relationship. Jung's emphasis on individual items is aware and voluntarily compensate the unilateral unilateral group that predominates today. "There," he wrote about 1934, "always two points of view and they exist still, in fact the point of view of social guide, which shows the extent it is idealistic, salvation in a more or less total oppression of the individual (for the community) and spiritual guide who tries to obtain an improvement only in the individual. I see no possibility of reconciliation between the two since they form a counter torque necessary to keep the world in balance. " Jung saw his own role in improving the individual, which is not without a romantic relationship personal and unique. Maybe you it will come one day in history, as the knight who sought to reported community Jar Grail disappeared, the feminine principle of Eros, meaning that "homo putissimus" of alchemy that exudes a blood-colored rose, a new form of love and healing overall, which can compensate the couple antagonist group - individual but can also exceed it.
