"All life is encounter" (spell on the Camino de Santiago)

Dear parents and friends,

love volunteers and star setter in the 2007 class,

A voluntary service abroad lives of encounter.

encounters with strange and lovely, with cultural characteristics and life dreams.

Above all, with people.

Only rarely can you find a different reality of life so intensely from within, as by living at the base.

Not theoretically, but practically from person to person.

Social Responsibility, writes our FW Alex from Nicaragua, "must be from the head to the hands!"

A wonderful picture - he's right!

We wish all FW that they continue to meet here so seldom seriously threatening dangers as before.

that our missions of safety acceptable in good conscience, are the last 3 months (and the last 3 years) have shown hope.

But now fits your particular attention to for you: If your are in the upcoming holiday on the road, the dangers are much larger than your selected applications in places where you mutually know and trust. Please be careful. Travel time is CrimeTime . Only when someone happens to be a serious matter, some will realize how good it is today and all the weeks actually attend. Spared us this insight! Let us be thankful for every day that we live in peace and health - and we meet as people - not, including our mistakes, quirks, hopes and dreams.

that you walk this path with us, makes us grateful and happy.

In this sense, we wish you a fulfilling season of Advent and a Merry Christmas

Pablo, Cordula, Uta & many more

Bolivia is politically quite moving, so it always comes back to demonstrations, strikes and road blockades.

The right-wing opposition heated vigorously with its media power, the feeling against the indigenous President Evo Morales, himself a split of the country is now possible.

Andrea has been able to also clarify with the 5 Bolivianos: The Children of the Mobile School are purely smuggled easily without pay. Today was the way, a very nice day. Our clubs have gone really really well. We are satisfied and quite happy.

Thank you and best regards,

Almost all women have at least three children (almost always brings a mother with her baby to sample), which they must provide all day, they cook, wash, cleaning, etc. Often, they are still working additional hours outside the home (sales in the Ceja) . or have a violent or alcohol-dependent men, if we can give women a little distracting Arts makes us a great joy "

From the very readable monthly report by Steffi (Santa Cruz).

" wanted one evening I pick up my host mother

from the bus stop, but my

project took a little longer and so

I came across a half hour after the

vera talked of time. I just wanted to run the

small pieces to the house alone, as

my host mother roadside stand

saw. I was very pleased that they so long for

had been waiting for me, but she said only

smile: "I'm the mother hen, and a

hen can not sleep when not all chicks in the nest are. "

One day sleeps an old fisherman in his fishing boat. A tourist comes over, looks at the whole thing a while

, it raises then the old fisherman, saying: "Why do you rest up from Would you go now out to sea, so

you were many fish caught from the profit you could. buy you a net and catch more fish. Sometime

you can afford a second boat and catch thousands of fish. Then your own boat! Yes, and at some point, if your

you own fishing operation, did so, then you can relax and look out on the calm sea! " Enthusiastic end of the tourist.

And the old fisherman replied, smiling: "But I surely do now."

(...)

is very important, do not feel sorry for the street boys, they do not need the

pity. They are not the poor little guys who are alone at night shivering

side of the road and want nothing more than a family.

These guys are usually plucked from home. Broadly speaking, running

it usually follows from: The families here are often so poor that they let the

children work hard on the street they sell little things steal

or begging. When they come home at night with the money to get

many first shots of the father who gets drunk with the money.

During the day the boys will learn to know other kids who are already torn

, and living on the street, come into contact with drugs. And

some point then the question arises as to why she actually her father's

Money to bring home when you collect still beating when

as they will easily remember the money for themselves, you can probably live on the streets in

freedom with their friends. In addition, the boys

need money for some time simply mostly self in order to finance their dependency

.

And so comes the day that is no longer the boy home.

In his clique on the street he feels strong, the cohesion is like

usually that of a family.

(...)

"Before you judged a man, you need a month in

his Mokkassins be gone."

This saying is for me an incredible wisdom

and importance.

I try to sense at least, as have the Mokkassins the

kids feel in my projects ...

(...)

I am very happy with my projects, I belong to my main project COMPA

must get to know other sides. It is very nice to be able to go with these strands of development work

-the way of creative intelligence and enthusiasm by the theater, the

way of life in a new community as in the orphanage Alalay and path of

voluntary night place of Techo Pinardis . "

Clear Fluid Before Period Not Pregnant

Newsletter No. 9: Spickeln in Shakespeare

"not complaining, what not to change, but change what is to be deplored." (William Shakespeare)

Dear parents and friends, love
volunteers and star setter

It was jinxed! No sooner had I finished this newsletter, new messages have arrived, for their part, were hardly inserted already outdated.
Therefore, I will largely absent in this mail once all water levels (who yesterday had a cold and everything has now fallen in love). The overall impression remains: Chance, there are adjustment problems (look at the different culture, sometimes to the German co-volunteer who makes the kitchen always much less than you) - and sometimes get homesick (for example, of gingerbread!). We
close because of the many positive messages not green eyes, that one or the other - deep in him / her in it - has to fight quite beautiful, but the outside just want to show strength. In addition, this newsletter is not the place to share internals from maintainer talks.
But overall - and judged that we are statistically soon be in the worst time of year - it's our sensational! This vintage rocks!

And if we then want to take time but the mood monster on the horizon down then we just try it with humor - this Schwimmguertel on the stream of life. Our Palestine-FW have the same time a reusable sample invitation to a low-Party drafted (see Annex). Come on, U-Curve-volunteers: the world for the best low party and the best photo of it, we buy at the meeting between a bucket of Nutella. We are excited ... J

---------------------------
Pure joy! Look at this clip from the slums of Santo Domingo on your 2 x. The first time you see children playing football. But the second time you see that it really right about something else all about: self-esteem, cohesion and dreams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg0UEdIzPYU

----------------------------

Toll what we all can learn from these reports alongside!
did I just read the excellent report by Anna from Palestine and learned a) that Palestinians with a black dot in the passport never get through the checkpoints b) that Friday and Sunday there, the school-free days (normal probably Friday / Saturday) c) the Jerusalem = Al Qudz means d) only 20 minutes from Jerusalem Beit Jala is removed and both won worlds separate e), Anna in the West Bank feels safer in Israel f) that grow in the "vineyard" more olives than grapes and g) that one can live on site must be to understand why both opposite sides are so unforgiving and peace remains unlikely, unfortunately, for years to come.

Argentina:

Christopher and Ruben and sign (fortunately) each week the same, but always with other flowery words: "First of all, the greenest of green from the WG Rosada! going on here right now everything fine, "

or" WG rosada south BsAs announces tender spring green "or" Here with us in the South-WG straight All is well!. "

Or:" I am well and (still ) in excellent condition. With the project, the integration and the language we get here is going very well and expect a great time in the coming year, "
From the first project report by Reuben." Immediately we were surrounded by children, were pulled by the arm

or just staring with my mouth open (of course, particularly 2-meter man Chris). "

humor Officer Wolfi (photo left) reports from the north of Buenos Aires:

" Good day, dear ones,
with us is everything that is great! status green!
the work is fun, the language is getting better, and the first friends are already found. Although it rains a lot here mometan, but that does not spoil our mood!

and the most important: you could do all girls say that indeed there were no flat this year, the more balanced, more adventurous and better cooks than we are. We are already on the ascendancy, own WG cookbook to make!
So in one respect we are quite certainly "worth ";-)! marriage

at 11.10:
"Hello! We are doing great in Jujuy! The job is always better, the weather is now and almost too hot. We already have the 2. times visited again by tine. We enjoy it here very much. Status: Green Love, Regards, Max "

------------------------------------ ----------

Bolivia
Good news: Even our Bolivian team is now complete. Helmar has already settled in well and Vivi has landed well in BA and the weekend even more with our FW in Jujuy.

Helmar had received shortly after landing the first mandatory altitude sickness, but now - in the truest sense of the word - again full at the height J and his musical talents hopefully integrate well into the project. Quote: "have been received here from the other great guys that even after my plane 2-3 hours was late, still fit and were happy to pick me up at the airport. "
Each year, we have isolated Salmonella infections or to" fight to fiebre typhediea. Sebastian currently has core complaints on this matter, but he is the Medical in good care.

a good mood as Luke reports from El Alto: "We feel well embedded, into the project, in host families in the culture."
project goes OK. Helmar Franz has flu and birthday (yesterday).

vO Simon writes about his work in theater social project COMPA:
"We ride our buses, which can be found here everywhere are often thirty to forty minutes to our jobs, often the roads are getting worse and worse until they are only sand and stones - where we work, do theater, Lego, homework help, video, radio, newspaper, ... (...)
My host brother, little, four years old, stood on a stool and tried to fly, ¡Voy a volar! he says, "I will fly!". Actually, most of what he hears in his life, instructions, prohibitions and worries. No vas a destrozar algo. You're likely to break anything! "

(PS: But the little boy stands on the stool, spreading his arms and calls all the physics in spite of" I will fly "
Sometimes! We can all learn something from 4 years)

Stefan writes: "Hello dear ones. Santa Cruz is currently very hot and this is the smog, and when one that was not enough as South America feeling, you can always count on the sand storms here .. ;)
otherwise we will as always good here, I come to find anything in the projects .. the weekend we go out with Claudio to philosophize a bit about COMPA and discuss the work in the near term. Yesterday was a very important day for me, all of Voluntarios Alalay have met and under the coordination of Jesus (a Voluntario, not the Allmnaechtigen;) looked at various projects, and talked about problems and experiences. After that we went with social workers to the kids on the streets and have a bit set to them and talk.
From [street children project] Techo, we were last Saturday in a beautiful waterfall paradise, 3 hours from Santa Cruz ... was beautiful and very well better know the kids learn. First rule: be incredibly cool, even cooler than all the kids together-sounds strange, but Sun ;)
I write a lot of diary, on leaves, my monthly report and am currently very much English,'s just incredibly fun, because we know that every minute of what good and every word is needed ... I do very well in English talk, I was told I already have on it the Crucenischen Slang: P
runs with Meier family all very good, especially the talks with the mother are very valuable to me, that speaks very bitterly about the politics of Bolivia and the lack of social security. On my host sister I play every night after my English teacher projects, crazy how little is taught her in school! Otherwise, even the Neffinen are there, that I my free time (since the evening of 10 clock mostly) spend, which makes me a lot of fun. A bit of a pity that little time right now to explore the area or a little too easy stroll, but the project I'm also very good as I would like to not be shortened, So, therefore, is of the rest already shown, I think. All the best, by Stephanie.
--------------------------------------
Andrea from Sucre:
"Yesterday's general strike but laessig all very, very calm, almost cheerful mood! As car-free Sunday. So no probem. besides that, we had no problems. health: gisela has overcome its salmonella, I still eat everything that tastes good to me cheerful and I feel very healthy, so everything fine, "
----------------------! -----------
Max and Teresa'm fine - in a few days they will learn from their host families in their new house. In the project there is just a "disagreement" between two Bolivian Project staff, and should be avoided wherever possible our FW to be caught in the crossfire. Otherwise all good.

Lisa and Julian (photo at a performance) are back with their musical and theatrical social project by Qatar's fresh from a tour of Bolivia. Two's fine, but they report something rare (Remember Mama Schenk :-).

excerpts from Lisa's
report about her project: "The Qatari collectivo is a group of concerned citizens of Cochabamba and international volunteers, since one and a half years, the wise-people an integral part of the group. Qatari Culture House but has no leads as workshops designed (talleres) directly to schools and regular they all afternoon with theater and games in parts of Cochabamba and enrich the cultural life of the city. The focus is on the content of the pieces: Important issues such as rights, equality, intercultural education, health and education are thus discussed in public.

a culture shock I have not suffered, and fall for me but more and more visible and invisible differences. So here it is, for example, normal that graze on the playground next one sheep, closed Sundays, all cafes and restaurants and drive the taxi driver to one year old daughter on his lap around and alongside still eat Jell-O. (...)
As I sit here and type sound from a part of the cottage trombone etudes [By Julian Bidner-FW] over to me, on the other side just rehearse cello and Mauri (= Quimbando) with the guitar for her next concert. Anyone who knows me knows that I like it well and I'm really glad to have landed here. "

The problem, namely, that there are no facilities for the disabled. We'll have to more up-stairs or carry down. But he is sweet, it is worthwhile :-)
(...)
you always have to again make it clear that the distances between various places in Palestine and Israel is very low. One example is Jerusalem, or Al-Qudz, say the Palestinians
: we need from Talitha only about 20 minutes by bus to get there. The city is located almost next to Bethlehem, and one can see from the roof Talithas
. Nevertheless, it is for most Palestinians virtually unattainable. Those of you who are not as well informed about the situation here, I will now explain again: It is generally not Palestinians without special permission (permit) for one or a few days may be issued to enter the Israeli territories. There are a few lucky ones, the so-called blue ID, Israeli passport or a permanent permit for such work has, with which they come across. The rest has to wait many months or years for a permit and some, including many teachers Talithas have come over a so-called black spot on the list of border controls, so they never get a permit. So if you want to go to Jerusalem, you must pass a checkpoint. The "Tunnel Checkpoint" by which we go again and looks something like this as a customs station or a place where you pay road tolls in France. If you go by bus, keep this in one place and get all the people need. Then, Israeli soldiers check their passports and searching the bus, all rise, and the bus drives on. (...)
"I got 17 years of no permit to go to Jerusalem," said Miss Firial, a religion teacher at this school to provide us with a smile. "I have a black dot
on their list, which means I never get a permit. But last Easter I am . Jumped the wall, and then I was there "

(...) The
contact with children is actually a consistently positive (of course annoying sometimes
one or other of the children - and vice versa) and we had no difficulty
be accepted by them, because we represent visually an attraction alone (
blue eyes and blond, long hair is a rarity) and is therefore great interest to us.

green light from St. Petersburg!

Everything runs according to plan. The projects are, in my opinion, very well. At least, "Ostrowok" and "Dom Maletzki. Optimal order to make effekitve work. So in
Ostrowok (islets) has a new project manager. He is very accessible, Carsten and I were in a meeting yesterday some suggestions regarding the work done with the children.
One thing of which he was excited was as guitar lessons, I could offer the kiddies. Carsten had to build the idea of clay with the children to chess pieces and even chess boards. In the following, then he would like to teach the children to play and organize small tournaments. We then had the idea of rice and cloth Jonglierbaelle tinker with the children and teach them juggling. Furthermore, had the conductor asked us if we can help with homework (math, English, ...), which is not a problem yes (if the language is even better). Taken as a whole is much Wertevermnittlung take place, since in this respect much ground to cover in the 10 to 16 year olds is. They usually come from families in which much alcohol is drunk or in which they were simply neglected. We
for the meaningful work in keeping the many Freiraeume are and we can do basically everything that makes the kids fun. In the cathedral

Maletzki our first contacts with the mentally disabled have been handled very pleasant. They welcomed us very pleased. It must have been so very good experience with the volunteers made. Freddy (the manager) can use us in both craftsmanship some things well, and in the care if the motor during the kneading or similar offenses should be practiced. For him it is important that there are male employees, because the disabled are mostly mothers and fathers do not and they, therefore, proper management and the routine with men is something missing.
We can offer workshops there as seat football or even character (the main thing is the motor is funded). What we can offer even otherwise we do not know yet because we disabled people have no experience and therefore not really know what works and what does not. But we will make suggestions and discuss them with Freddy him.

We currently have 1 time a week 2 hours language course. The language is very difficult, but actually I have a good feeling. We want to start in any case be separated in the projects so that we least daytime only Russian around to us. Incidentally we also talk with the girl at the moment we live Russian. Kind regards, Robert

the weekend we were invited to a traditional ceremony in a "rural area", slaughtered cows for the extra 3 were. We were the only two Umlungus (white) and for some of the kids the first white men they have ever seen "live" - almost unbelievable in South Africa in the 21st century!

Dear parents and friends,

what you have learned along the way and tell us again and again volunteers after their return, is : to look after their health and to listen to your body, especially in the early years is reflected in many volunteers each year, an adaptive response to the new Lebensumstaende (unfamiliar food, climate, altitude, pathogens, water damage, etc.) that her immune system entirely. nice calls, so that colds and diarrhea are common.
In Bolivia Alt FW Philipp downright shocked that from his successors Just wanted to hire no diarrhea. Now he can sleep easy again: It had taken only a little longer. You know certainly the pun: "Talk to 2 volunteers:" How, "asks one?. Then the other: "It runs ..."

course we take seriously again this year all sick leave and know that fever and diarrhea are just pleasant. Nevertheless, we should not lose sight of the fact that this is just in the beginning simply related to this subject and generally not worrying. The first "Grosskommunikationstag" clearly also a fun way, can the speed with which the news spread, independent of the secured truth, a double-edged sword.

Even before we in the Dominican Republic of knowing it secured what they have at all our two fever patients, Kristina hears from Nicaragua by Lukas from Bolivia, which in turn has geskyped with Laura in the Dominican Republic that it was probably dengue fever ... J

A little deceleration is doing us all very well, because everything takes its time: a diagnosis for a few hours, a cold a few days and a pregnancy a few months - and that's a good thing!

-----------------------------------------------
Dominican Republic: get

As FW Geiger and his predecessor, Jose Manuel fever, we bring them straight to the hospital because we have too much rather than too little even consult a doctor. Initially diagnosed with dengue fever, but a closer examination but not confirmed. In any case, both are in the best precaution, medical care and also again on the road to recovery, such as a phone message shows: "The nurses here are really pretty" (Both are already out again this Sunday).

was otherwise brought the beautiful flat on its feet, we have shelves, a stove, one bed and a generator concerned, so that we ourselves in everyday power failure now have light. Nevertheless, the new volunteers every evening sitting by candlelight on the veranda and practicing with Kenya (so called her teacher) English conversation. There is much laughter and applauded - and even the neighbors take an active part. The children play in the street, crows and dogs barking faucets, and any Christian neighbors begin Sunday morning at 4 with a loud, singing praise of many moods.

The soccer tournament was a resounding success. Of course, our "Dolphins" from the slums Caballona were disappointed that they have in the final against the physically more robust (nutrition advantage?) And experienced team of rich private school lost Lasalle, but about winning, it should not walk anyway. Nevertheless, it feels somehow unfair if one team cools off with "Gatorade" in boxes, while at home our kids not times have running water. Our volunteers are required as a teacher: In the game, an opponent makes a disparaging gesture under his nose, as if our team (with Haitian refugees) stink. The atmosphere is heated suddenly very beautiful.
In a short conversation made the players realize that Fair Play means respect for the players. The note bears fruit: After the game, the player comes to the dolphins and apologized.

adopted after the tournament, Alt FW Jose with a stirring speech of his kids. You feel how much they have taken him into their hearts, and vice versa. For many of the children are our volunteers father-substitute, or at least the "big brother" to look up can be a shining example. All form a circle around their Zivi hug him all at once, as they wanted him no longer let go - cry and countless tears of farewell. I've never pubescent boys, but all so cool and tough "Tigres" (Gangster =) want to be seen as openly show their feelings. Behind many a hard facade reveals a veeeery soft core. J

The next training has already been passed by the new - the encouragement (25 kids) continues: Even adult men over 40 to ask whether our FW is not a team could build for the elderly. An interesting idea to alcoholism in this target group to fight world ...

New FW Thomas writes: "The first thing I must tell you that I'm doing very well and to me the whole thing here, so what of guided 䬬 t:))"

a "different world". A special thanks also goes to my organization and especially to wise ev Cordula and Pablo for their incredible commitment

So far everything in the lush green area. Best regards, Janosz "

Klever countries spokesman Paul writes: "For a week I am now Nicaragua, since yesterday in my new home, León. The week in Masaya, the place where we have the first part of our on-arrival training provided was for all of us great and full of new experiences and impressions. We have learned a lot this week were allowed to try out (had) our English, enjoy the Nica-kitchen, sweating in the heat, the rain soaking wet rumturnen be with children and much more. In Germany as announced terrible hurricane hit the Atlantic Coast in Nicaragua, where she taught well in some damage, in Masaya, we are no more than wet. A ridiculous situation that in Germany all provide the have made and have learn constantly news, while we have not heard much about the whole thing. Therefore you need to make you all do not worry, I'm sorry to report to me until now, but, as I said, we berkamen of all this with much less than you. Soon I'll
explore in the city of León, visit the largest cathedral in Latin America and provide me on the market. Next week begins the work in the projects, parallel runs a language course. We will also spend probably the next time adding people to our apartment. There is plenty to do, lots of creative ideas and a lot Raaum to remain independent. A huge mango tree is loaded into the middle of our garden, hammocks and Schaukelstuehle in the future after work to relax. This is not cooked and eaten. Just so I conclude now, as Kathi, our predecessor, in which we are incorporating the moment is just proceeded to go shopping, that is, soon there to eat. Best wishes to appear to be very autumnal Germany. Kind regards, paul "

countries spokesman Robert and FW Carson are now already arrived safe in St. Pete: "Hello to Germany, the green light from St. Petersburg. We have arrived safely. Exhausting bus ride from Riga Tallinn to St. Petersburg, but everything went fine. We were received very kind of [predecessor] Lion. He takes care of us and looks great, runs that organization with housing, language training, etc. everything. Vadim and were already at the head of Caritas, and had the first conversation with them. can be very good at talking to them. I think it's a very good cooperation is possible. Tomorrow we will all get members of Caritas presented and next week, the individual projects. we feel overwhelmed by this Great city and we feel somewhat helpless. but this must be so - out of the comfort zone!
At the moment we have died during a 18-year old whose parents and only takes care of their grandmother. It is madness. A suburb of St. Petersburg. The total ghetto. it feels like in the Kries region in general. but we have internet - crazy! So
